HI. You will notice that we have started the blog afresh on a different server. The previous server was way too slow.

Hi Ramy, There are only a handful of alumni registered in Qatar. So, yes, UAE it is :-)

Bit by bit, I'm now adding back some features that will not affect speed, eg account pictures would be great to have, so let's see ... done :-)

umm.. things that would be interesting to add are:

    - a calendar/events system.
    - a voting system (where we all can vote on a particular issue or topic that serves MEGAA and its purpose).

    ;)

Hi rabieakela. I like your ideas! Are you coming to the meeting tomorrow? After the meeting we'll have some events to enter and I'll get up us a calendar :-)
Ditto to the voting system. We can add a "poll". D'ya'think it would be a good idea to allow any member to start a poll, ie give admin abilities for this particular function to everyone? I'll bring it up at the meeting tomorrow too.
    PS love your avatar :-)

Thank you for your comments :)

I would love to be @ the meeting tmrw, but it seems that I've been fully booked for the day. I look forward to see the outcomes. Also, if you guys are able to dedicate one meeting for putting a Website and Internet Plan, I would certainly be happy to attend and discuss a couple of ideas I already have in mind for MEGAA.

As for the poll system, I think it would be best if admin(s) alone are able to start a poll. Giving "any" member the privilege might risk things going out of control and perhaps loosing focus.

    :)

MEGAA's current website is here www.megaanetwork.com
We certainly can include ideas regarding our website on the agenda at the next meeting, which we were planning on having at Mall of the Emirates (Dubai) on a mid-week evening in January. How'd that suit you?

How about the Samovar Lounge at the Arabian Courts in the One and Only Royal Mirage (www.oneandonlyresorts.com)?
It is a quiet, elegant place for my business meetings. Samovar offers a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, desserts, and sandwishes and also has its own outdoor lounges for smokers.

It would be a good idea to know the number of people attending and who is attending (i.e. who is admin?).

I will start with myself: I am Mohammad Rabie Akela (aka Rabie). I hold a BSc degree in Internet Science and Technology and MSc of ICT (UoW, Australia). I am a general manager at an air conditioning company and in-charge of 3 branches in Ajman, Al Jurf, and Sharjah. I am directly managing the HR (+300 people), IT and web-based development (intranet), Energy Metering Projects, and the recently our Service Department. You can learn more about me from www.rabieakela.com or www.linkedin.com/in/akela.

How do you do, Rabie? Nice to meet you :-) I'm Jo Clarke, aka admin! Actually, I should leave that username for times when I need to do repairs etc to the site, and stick to Jo for discussions! About me: I hold Masters of Professional Communications (Multimedia) and freelance in web design and also work part-time with Australian Education International.

Some members have suggested, for the next meeting, a nice cafe in the Mall of the Emirates, mid-week about 6:30 pm. This may work because of the other activities at the Mall that they could do/visit after/before the meeting. But Samovar Lounge sounds good too. I wonder what others think ( a poll on it eh?)
